One Last Treat

I want to apologize for all my extremely lame posts lately. I have no clue what's wrong with me, it's as if my brain took a leave of absence along with my wit and sense of humor. Could be all the changes occurring in my life at the moment with Steven in Korea and Lauren married and living two and a half hours away. Never did I imagine I would have such extreme 'empty-nest syndrome'. As an only child (along with the fact my mother died when I was very young) I've always been independent and self-sufficient, I figured when my kids left I'd be fine. Boy, was I ever wrong! I miss them horribly. My oldest still lives near by and stops by several times a week, as well as my dad. And I do have the husband. And my dog and cat. But, I still miss my other two. I suppose, eventually, I'll get used to it. Perhaps. Maybe. Possibly. But I doubt it.

I finally put together a little pack of six papers to match my Dervish and Banges (know where that name came from?) kit. If you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to pass them on to me. If you don't feel comfortable leaving a comment, you can email me at TallulahTooGood@gmail.com. Whatever helps me get better, I'm up for it. Here you go..

I Want Candy

Happy Halloween!!
These holidays definitely make me miss my offspring as little ones. I miss dressing them up, I always made their costumes so it was a big to-do with picking out the pattern, picking out the fabric and trying on at each stage. I miss taking them to their school parties. I miss making cookies and cupcakes. I miss taking them door-to-door. Grown up kids at Halloween just sicks. Bleeck!

Dragged the cat to his check up this morning. Even though I have the best vet ever, Tigger is not a fan. But, being he's nearly 17 years old, he monitoring. He was fine with most everything until the time came to take his temp, he so did not like that. He's back home now, healthy and whole, hiding under something somewhere. He's not talking to me at the moment. Oh well..

I think we'll go down to the theater to watch Where The Wild Things Are. Seems like my type of Halloween movie (I hate scary movies, they give me nightmares).

Here's a little something for you, three candy spills. Hope you enjoy them. I promise to finally have the papers finished by tomorrow. Have a safe night.

Expressions by Gyspy Couture

Happy Happy Thursday!!

Brrrrrr!! It's a bit chilly here in south Cali, a very cool 48 degrees. Quite a difference from yesterday's sunny and warm 80 degree day. It's cookie baking weather. A hot cup of coffee and a warm, melting peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. Sounds so yum.

Before I hot the kitchen, I want to share with you this super duper kit from my favorite designer, Gypsy Couture. It's called Expressions. Perfect fall colors and she has a way of finding the absolute coolest elements. That's one huge reason I adore Lisa's kits, her wonderful originality. Believe me, I wait on the edge of my chair awaiting each new creation. Whether you prefer glitter goodies or you have a nature side or even enjoy fasteners, there is plenty for you. Run over to Digichick and grab it at its special introductory price. Trust me, you'll love it.

Here's what I did with it..

Bet you can guess how much I'm missing my youngest.

Don't forget to check back tomorrow for a brand new Friday Freebie!! YaY for freebies!! And mark your calendars because I have a very special 'one day only' download for y'all next Wednesday.

Much love,
Moi

Mask Monday

Know those kind of days when nothing seems to flow, where even the smallest details are nearly impossible to complete? This day, so far, has been a big, fat bowl of complications. My PSP keeps freezing up on me, my internet connect is draggin' like a slug on Vicodin and whatever mojo I pretend to have has decided to go into early hibernation for the winter. If I thought screaming would help, I'd be all over it. But, alas, it won't.

Since I'm having a PITA of a day, I decided to give you all a goodie. Karma points. Heheehe. So, I put together a couple of masks. I love masks and I hope you all enjoy these. Don't forget to check out last Friday's Freebie while you're here and I'll try to kick start my imagination for this week's Freebie.

Mumbo Jumbo & A Bit Of My Own

I can’t believe what a horrendous hostess I’ve been, utterly negligent in my duties. For that, I do so apologize. I simply do not know where this week went.
Zoom zoom.

First, I want to share with you another splendid kit designed by Gypsy Couture, called Mumbo Jumbo. Stuffed full of fun and freaky bits and pieces, ideal for all your Halloween layout needs.

Creep over to The DigiChick and grab this kit at its introductory price.

This is my oldest. Since he always makes some weird, goofy face nearly each and every time I try to snap a photo I figured I might as well get some use from them. Heheehe

Also, I have a little goodie just for you as well, another little bit of my Autumnesque kit. I hope you're enjoying them, I'm having a blast designing and putting them together. Thank you for all the wonderful comments, I appreciate ya'll taking the time to leave me a bit of lovin'. Nubia, you'll see I took your advice, thank you so much. This week's download..

has expired. Sorry.

I’ve really enjoyed putting together this kit, (and the next one I’ve got going), and since I welcome all observations and suggestions I thought it would be nice to share the hints we like best. I’ll start off with a few..

1. I know you’ve heard this over and over (there’s a reason for that) but save, save save. Whether you’re working on a layout or designing a kit, save again and again and again. It’s definitely worth the moment it takes to click that save button not to lose your project.

2. Back up your files. I would hate to lose all my scrapbook files (which, btw way has happened to me not once, but twice) but one of my greatest fears is to lose all my photos. Living with a digital camera, all my recently taken pics (the last 3 years) are all housed on my computer, if it decided to suddenly pass away, I would lose everything. It would break my heart not to have the photos I took at my daughter’s wedding, the times she tried on gowns, my children’s college graduations, my father surrounded my his grandchildren. I backup to an external hard drive (as well as upload to Flickr & Facebook) on the first of every month. Back it up.

3. As far as working on a layout, something I prefer to do is place the drop shadow on a layer of its own. I’m not great with shadows so it gives me the option to play with it or delete and try again.

4. I know I picked this one up at either Pioneer Woman or Coffee Shop, (can’t remember which, both are wonderful sites), and I have used it dozens of times. Works for photos as well as all things digitally created and it’s so very simple. If you would like to brighten or lighten an item up, duplicate the layer and use your blend modes. I prefer using either overlay or hard modes.

Okay, your turn. To sweeten the pot a touch, I have a special goodie for the first ten people who leave a hint under comments and for the rest I’ll draw a few names from them as well. What do you get you ask? This set of six Autumnesque glitters. YaY!

All you have to do is leave a hint for a chance to winner, or be one of the first ten. Isn't it worth a moment of your time? Please say yes. ( =
Be sure to leave your email so I can contact you.

Okie doke, I got tons to do today. A Halloween kit to finish, photos to take for the You Capture challenge and laundry and cooking (bleeck!).

I'll leave you with a little something for the weekend, hope you have a wonderful one.

What Day Is It?

Happy Tuesday!! Don't forget I host a challenge called Tuesdays With Tula, so pop on over to DFF to join in the fun. Tuesdays With Tula

The other day I was racking my brain, as well as searching every nook and cranky of the internet (so I thought anyway), for what to do with leftover tin cans. The whole pencil holder idea is a tad played out. Lo and behold, today I run across this..

(photo and directions found here..http://www.womansday.com/Articles/Crafts/Pumpkin-Lantern.html)

It brings plethora of idea along the lantern line. How cute would they be painted and blinged out for Christmas?

Ingredients
1 oz tequila
.5 oz Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur
.5 oz Tuaca or orange liqueur
3 oz sweet and sour mix
Directions

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Shake well, and pour over ice in a salt-rimmed margarita glass.

This recipe, as well as others, can be found at The Hostess With The Mostest

I'm still suffering through this never-ending bout of insomnia. My brain is definitely not in clear function mode. I'll have another piece of my 'Autumnesque' kit available for you this Friday. I'm going to go try to nap.

Sing Me A Lullaby

It’s been days since I’ve slept more than 3 hours straight. I am exhausted, cranky and desperately in need of some serious shut eye. I sit here, nearly dead from lack of sleep, but the moment I crawl beneath the covers, I begin to stress out about nothing being able to sleep and, I can’t sleep. It sucks. Thank goodness I go to the doctor next week so if I’m still having problems I’ll see if I can get a bit of medicinal aid.

To get right to the meat of this entry while I still make a bit of sense, I got a freebie for you. It’s a piece of the kit ‘Autumnesque’ I’ve been working on. Hope you like it.

I Should Be Folding Laundry

I love finding new fun blogs, especially when they have anything to do with photography or scrapping. This afternoon I bounced into one called 'I Should Be Folding Laundry’, due to my aversion with everything domestic, it was love at first sight by title alone. You can imagine my delight at discovering the photo focus. Bearing in mind my love of clicking my camera, I am in snapshot euphoria stumbling upon anyone who is willing to peruse my pictures. Fortunately, this week’s theme is ‘Still Life’ as all my children have all but forsaken me for greener pastures, (whoops, that was a tad harsh, we’ll deal with that at later date), immobility is perfection. And here we go…

In the mood for more? Pop over to Photobucket and splurge on all the amazing talent.

Touch Of Spice, Gyspy Style

Happy Thursday!! And you know what that means!! A new release by Gypsy Couture!! YaY!

Honestly, every time Lisa releases a new kit, I think it's the best kit she's ever done and could not possibly top it but yet, she always does. This week is no different. I absolutely love the elements, perfect for this time of year. Fits for autumn, Halloween and even Thanksgiving. Such gorgeous colors. I know you'll love it. Be good to yourself, hop over to DigiChick to pick up this fun kit. You'll thank me later.

Juggling Lemons

I have a confession to make.

My computer is a lemon.

It saddens me to tell you that because it’s a Dell and I’ve always loved Dell computers. Twelve years ago I purchased my very first Dell desktop and it was amazing. Believe me, I wore that machine absolutely out. When it came time to part with my original contraption, why would I not want another Dell? Well, this one sucks. I’ve only had it two years and I have seriously wanted to throw it against the wall several hundred times. I don’t claim to be Bill Gates even so I know my way around a computer and I have had to reformat this thing three times as Windows refuses to start. And, it randomly chooses files to munch or toss, I’m not sure which, but it’s certainly frustrating. Now, you may be thinking perhaps the difficulty is with me, that I have reached the age of senility thus sporadically deleting files willy-nilly only to forget at a later time. The senility part is a possibility, at times, but I do not haphazardly dump files. If anything, I hold on to them long after I should trash them already. I’ve heard the saying ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade’, how do I make lemonade from a computer?

I promise a much better and more fascinating entry tomorrow but, as for now, I must scour the recycle bin for my new anti-virus program. Frickin’ computer.

The Dreaded Insomnia Phase

It’s nearly 5 am, it’s raining and I’ve been up for nearly three hours. I get this every once in awhile, insomnia. It may last for a couple days or a couple of weeks; I never know how long each bout will last. It wouldn’t bother me at all, I enjoy being up when it’s quiet but I am exhausted the next day(s). It’s so odd because I feel so sleepy but as soon as I hit the bed my mind goes off and simply will not quiet down. Thinking, thinking and more thinking. The thoughts just keep coming. Eventually, it ends. But, for now, here I am.

As I was perusing my usual sites, one of my favorites, Bakerella, has what looks like a simply scrumptious recipe for Snickerdoodle Cookie Cupcakes. Oh. My. God. How yum do these look?

(photo borrowed from Bakerella website)

If you have never visited this site, you are so missing out on, if nothing else, mouth-watering eye yummies. These cupcakes are definitely something I can see myself whipping up being as my family loves Snickerdoodles. Also, if you pop over before 7pm tonight you can enter to win a couple of Martha Stewart’s books (cookies and cupcakes). Pretty cool, huh? Bakerella

Sunday my dad called and invited me out to a concert featuring Mac Frampton. I’m not much of a classic music aficionado, even at my advanced age I’m more of a Warped Tour type chick, thus an afternoon spend with piano, bass and drums didn’t exactly sound like my cup of coffee. But, it was an invite from my widowed father who turns 79 in a few weeks, so of course, I went. Much to my surprise and delight, I loved it. A lot of classic, a few show tunes, some 70s television theme songs and a bit of gospel. It was wonderful. Mac Frampton (no relation to Peter) was wittily amusing, we had fabulous seats and my dad even treated me to a yummy dinner afterward. All in all, it was an absolutely charming outing.

Don’t forget, today is my Tuesdays With Tula, stop by to see what it’s all about.

Below are a few photos I snapped while waiting to go into the concert hall. Hope you like them.

Freebie Friday!! With A Fiver!!

Happy Fun Friday!!

Aren’t Fridays amazing! I just love them, the end of the week, the beginning of the weekend. A bit chilly, not quite cold enough for a sweater but a little too cool for short sleeves. And, I actually saw a few trees with orange and red leaves, a rarity among our mostly evergreens. Just beautiful.

Took Pooder to the vet today to get her staples removed, hard to believe less than 6 weeks ago we were afraid we’d lose her. She’s back to her spunky, energetic, pain-in-the-ass self. I’m so happy.

So far, no plans for the weekend. I’ll come up with something or perhaps I’ll just hang out at home with my pooch watching movies or even catching up on a few layouts.

I did promise ya’ll a goodie and I do my very best to always keep a promise. I wanted to share of a piece of the kit I’ve been working on a kit called Autumnesque. How do people put together a kit in days? I drive myself crazy changing items, adding to them, liking them, not liking them. I honestly drive myself nuts. Hopefully I’ll finish Autumnesque before winter.

Also, I have the Fiver Friday today. Usually I connect the Fiver with the Freebie but I’m in such a good mood you can have the freebie for, well, free. If you’re in the mood, I’d really appreciate it if you took a moment of your time to answer the question. Please. And, here it is…

What are the five favorite elements you like in a kit?

1. Beads. I love beads. Bead spills. Beads on a wire. Beads.
2. Overlays, like the ones over at Natali Designs . I love them.
3. Trees.
4. Word art
5. Something unusual, a key, a clock, a bottle, something different.

How about you?

Okie dokie, here is the freebie I promised..
**Sorry, link has expired**

Please feel free to give me any feedback, good or not so good. You can leave it i the comments or even email me at JustAnotherPixelPusher@gmail.com. I'd love to hear from you.
